Volunteering for Individuals

The Ronald McDonald House is always looking for individual volunteers who are willing to donate their time and talent.  To be a volunteer at the House, individuals must be 18 years or older and willing to make a regular commitment for a minimum of 6 months.   Click here to sign up.

Positions include:

Dinner in a Pinch Servers (DIPS):   Volunteers who are available to be contacted by email to help prepare and serve a meal on short notice when there may be a cancellation or a meal date that has gone unfilled.  For more information about our Dinner in a Pinch Servers, click here.

Housewarmers: Aid in the smooth operation of the house. This may include some light cleaning, cooking school lunches and other maintenance activities. Each shift is built around an activity that brings our Housewarmers into some contact with families.

Office Volunteers: Assist with daily office tasks, including answering phones, coordinating mailings and other projects as needed.

Event Volunteers: Play a key role at our two major events, the Golf Classic and Fam Glam.  Auction spotters, registration assistants and set-up/take-down helpers are all needed to make these events run flawlessly.

Summer Activity Helpers: Assist with our summer activity program, both at the House and on local field trips. Activities include trips to the Library, strawberry picking and building model rockets.

Drivers: Provide transportation for families to Target using our House van. Families sign up for these shuttles, which are scheduled for Monday and Thursday evenings at 6:30pm. Drivers commit to a set schedule, and if anyone has signed up for a ride, the driver would take them on that evening run.

Gardeners: We have a number of garden beds around our House and need groups or individuals interested in planting and maintaining these gardens.  If you like to garden, we’d love to have your help!

Share Your Talents: Whether it is knitting hats or scarves or baking an assortment of home-made cookies, we always welcome these donations!

Prospective House volunteers will be given an introduction to the House and interviewed to discuss their interests, availability and commitment level. Once assigned to a position, all volunteers attend an orientation session to learn more about the families who make their home here, the illnesses they are contending with and ways to work effectively and appropriately with families in crisis.

If you are interested in any of the volunteer opportunities described here, please contact Carynn Roehrick at 612.767.2788.
